Our Story

In the small community of Longido, Tanzania, an important initiative has taken off. Our group from Carleton University has started work on a mission that is striving to eliminate barriers and provide new opportunities in an area in need.

Fueled by the belief that sports can be a bridge for positive change and community development, we have set out to bring the joy of basketball to a community that has once thought a pursuit of sports was only a dream. We aim to make it a reality.

Last year, Carleton laid the foundation for this dream by constructing the first basketball court in the Longido district. Since then the community has been eager to see what's next. This year, our commitment deepens as we strive not only to provide the physical infrastructure but aim to provide sufficient resources to make basketball accessible to all those in the Longido community.

Basketball Tournament in Longido

Milestone in Longido

A quiet area where players once only had hopes of a basketball court was of playing basketball was now struck to life through the sport by bringing together teams from all over Tanzania in the first ever organized basketball tournament in Longido.

This year, our commitment deepens as we strive not only to provide the physical infrastructure but aim to provide sufficient resources to make basketball accessible to all those in the Longido community. By providing jerseys, basketballs, shoes and more, the athletic community in Longido can reach new heights.

Opportunities for All

We aim to make basketball accessible for all as our initiative promotes inclusion, education and development for the women of Longido as well.

Beyond the court, we aim to provide a database with valuable lessons from coaches worldwide, the empowerment of students through the local coaches of the area, and hopes of kickstarting an ongoing sports program where once there was none.
